Appearance Summary • A large, slightly chubby silver bengal with distinctive black spotting and stripes.
Overall Appearance

Heronreed is a traditional spotted silver Bengal with a sleek, beauteous silvery-alabaster pelage. He has more heavy black notable within his face, incredibly profound in between his eyes, extending the to the forward and out from his nose to his cheeks. He has two black markings above his eyes, giving the appearance of "eyebrows." There are ebony stripes surrounding all four appendages, all the way to his toes. The lines don't end until descending from the throat to his mid flank, which then develops into black spots with grey centers. Heronreed's spine is a stripe of black, plunging to the tip of his tail. The tom's pelage makes it easy to swim, with short, dynamic hairs creating a velutinous look when dry and drenched. There's no difference between wet and dry for the sire except the shininess from dampness amidst his pelage. Facial expressions are easily recognizable on Heronreed's face due to the contrasting colors. Other than his distinctive pelt, Heronreed's icy blue visage. He possessed the most expressive eyes, expelling the last of the night's sleepiness from the minds of others. They were the hue of a clear, cerulean sky through a broken prison wall; the pigment of a perfect raindrop on a blue aster; the color of a river hurrying to join the great ocean. Something that constantly burdens Heronreed, is the slight heftier build he is characterized by.

the personality
Strengths •  Allocentric, Incisive, Protective, Romantic
Neutral • Mellow, Impassive, Self-Conscious, Whimsical
Weaknesses • Deceiving, Meek, Obsessive, Ruthless
Fears • Losing a brutal fight and witnessing the death of a loved one.

Overall Personality •

Most would acknowledge Heronreed's negative attributes first, portraying deceiving behavior, considering the tom is typically very meek. From an outside perspective, the eccentric warrior is quiet and gentle, displaying a more submissive demeanor. If Heronreed gets propelled beyond his boundaries, he quickly becomes intolerant, which tears away this unpretentious mask. Despite his meekness, Heronreed is certainly obessive over multiple aspects amidst him, whether it be the lives of others, a lover, or his belongings. Occasionally, the bachelor will obsess over the minor things or anything new he's become knowledgeable on. He's brilliant, primarily exploiting it to his advantage. The least expected characteristic of Heronreed would be his brute strength and ruthless nature against an enemy, no matter what is before his visage. The fierce warrior is violent and merciless when enraged, becoming foolish in battles and often ending up with injuries. Heronreed is willing to go as far as death against a competitor, as the tom doesn't appreciate failing.

Heronreed is generally considered a mellow feline with a gentle spirit and sympathy for others. He's predominately relaxed in situations until he loses his temper. Even though he is quiet, if it comes to an enemy or stranger, Heronreed flicks the switch, portraying his impassive techniques. The sire has a slightly silver tongue, able to persuade others and make his move; whatever it may be is unpredictable. There's no awareness when it comes to Heronreed's mysterious ways. While he's typically serene and courteous, the tomcat suffers from being self-concious of himself, especially when it comes to agility. He has an elongated physique, with a notable primordial pouch, which isn't crazily prominent on numerous felines who endure the outside. Heronreed's self-consciousness occasionally gave him apprehension and the overwhelming feeling of zero motivation. Every day is different for him, regarding the days when he's feeling more or less insecure about his body image, sending him down an endless, dark tunnel with no light at the end. Heronreed is more unrestricted with friends and family and feels the need to release his whimsical side, enjoying minimal pranks and jokes with those he cares about.

Heronreed is an interesting warrior, as his personality appears to be consistently contrasting. There's no comprehending what's proceeding to occur with the warrior subsequently. The warrior is highly allocentric, constantly concerned about what others are doing or thinking. His attention is never upon himself, as he preserves his empathy for those amongst him rather than possessing an egotistic persona. He despises felines with an overbearing ego, preventing that within himself as much as possible. He refuses to be like his father. With an incisive mindset, he is quick to make a quick decision. There's no doubt Heronreed wouldn't struggle, having a plan ahead of time in most situations. The bachelor's intellect allows him to detect subtle things in others and have a refined strategy for his next movement. If anyone within SaberClan is in jeopardy, Heronreed is instantaneous to the offense, prepared to assist and utilize his immense strength. He relishes serving the clan, finding himself a reliable, reputable warrior, harboring a protective demeanor. Despite every trait, this sire carries, most would assume that he is romantic. Heronreed loves a good view of the horizon during sunset or sunrise or to view Silverpelt at the highest points in the territory and spend quality time with whoever he falls for. He's got plenty of other ideas in his mind, conceivably seen as a hopeless romantic.

the history

Kittenhood

Heronkit was born in a litter of three beautiful Bengal kittens, spotted and sleek! They came from giant warriors who were prideful and well-known through SaberClan, Spottedice, and Paintedmask. Heronkit. Paintedmask and Spottedice, a predestined pair. Why was that? Paintedmask's and Spottedice's parents had decided to have these kits to pass on a larger size in genetics. Not only that but the beautiful eye coloration the family carries, ranging from vibrant greens, icy and ocean blues, to deep golden hues. The family is appealing, possessing a distinguishable variety of colors and build. Paintedmask and Spottedice had their kits at a decent age, around thirty moons for their first litter. Born in the litter had been two silver Bengals, a silver and charred tom with distinctive blotches and lighter silver and creamier-toned she-cat. Not to mention, a vibrant brown bengal. Spottedice and Paintedmask were quick to decide names: Heronkit for his notable silverly-white in his pelage, Speckledkit for her more prominent spots, and Newtkit for his vibrancy.

He grew up well-loved and protected, his parents teaching him all they could through his kittenhood as he had a thirst for being educated, and his parents were obliged to guide him. He did not grow up cooped up in the nursery; he took frequent walks with his parents outside of the camp to learn about StellerClan, the territory, and the prey. He and his sister, Speckledkit, were and are very close. Growing up together, they comprehended similar things and went on fun adventures through the forest with their parents supervising. The two were best friends, always playing and gazing at the stars at night. Growing up with his sister as his best friend was one of the best and worst things for Heronkit. Heronkit was the timid cat of the two. He would often take coaxing to get him to explore like Speckledkit. Speckledkit was reckless, charging around blindly, always wondering what was around the corner. Meanwhile, Heronkit was a reserved kit, curious about the world around him. Heronkit was curious like any young cat but was more cautious than his rambunctious sister. However, while Speckledkit was harsh and moody, Heronkit quickly learned to be gentler due to his overpowering size. When his siblings would attack at their full power, Heronkit would not. He feared he might harm his sister after the many warnings his parents had given him. Although Speckledkit was merely his size, she was less dense than her brother, Heronkit.

When they finally reached six moons, Speckled was most enthusiastic and eager. This wasn't to say that Heronkit wasn't ecstatic to be an apprentice. It simply meant that he could hide it better than his sister, who nearly vibrated in place. Heronkit was given Breezeflight as a mentor, a senior warrior of SaberClan. Some feared the aging she-cat was too old to mentor another apprentice, and though Heronkit would be her last apprentice, she proved to the Clan that a senior cat can push through until the very end. Some young cats might have been jealous when their siblings received younger warriors as their mentors, but Heronpaw didn't seem to mind.

Apprenticeship:

Breezeflight was a forbearing she-cat who carefully demonstrated each battle tactic and hunting technique to her apprentice, who proved to be a very specialized cat. He tended to ask many inquiries and preferred to know the fundamental procedure before attempting it. It indicated that their training sessions managed to be longer than others, and he memorized slower than the others, but once the young alabaster tom understood it, he accumulated it. Breezeflight was thrilled with the progress her apprentice would make, even if his sister had understood what he did two days before. She was never discouraged, and in turn, he was never frustrated. Heronpaw was relieved that he'd been assigned such a cordial and easygoing mentor, and despite her age, the senior warrior could haul tail-end. Breezeflight guaranteed her apprentice had gotten plenty of rest to ensure a successful lecture in the following session. She didn't believe that exhausting her apprentice would construct a better warrior.

When he was ten moons old, the Leafbare was particularly harsh. The medicine cat had begun to suspect something was wrong with Newtpaw, as he would often have difficulty breathing after hard training sessions. It became blindingly clear when Newtpaw fell extremely ill once the cold-rolled in. He spent six days in the medicine cat den, and Heronpaw could only watch, horrified as his brother's body would be raked by horrible coughs that sounded like the orangish-brown tom was asphyxiating. On the sixth night, Newtpaw was hit by a particularly hard-bought of coughing. Heronpaw watched as his brother's green eyes widened suddenly. It took the silvery-white tom a moment to realize that he had ceased breathing. Newtpaw thrashed wildly, his mouth agape, desperate for air, but none arrived in him. His lungs had filled with fluid, and the young tom passed away before he could be made a warrior.

It was hard on the whole family, and though Newtpaw's passing left a heavy feeling in Heronpaw's chest, he knew that his brother was with StellerClan now, where he could live without the pains of his illness. Speckledpaw, however, did not take it so well. She began to grow more and more aggressive in her training, and Breezeflight and Heronpaw noticed that her recklessness had merely increased. She appeared to disregard her life altogether. Her disinterestedness would be proven later on in her life. Their parents, they'd been devastated as well. Heronpaw had felt like he hadn't spent enough time with Newtpaw, his emotions entwining and provoking the tom's chest to feel consolidated practically all day. He'd never encountered this anxiety, and it was the feeling of grief. All he could do was deny the truth, although deep down, he'd known the truth very well. It was an angsty feeling he learned to despise as it possessed his crania daily.

For two moons, it was the same. Speckledpaw was pushing herself too far, Heronpaw accomplishing his best to understand the lessons Breezeflight acquainted him. And then the day they have been anointed as warriors. Heronpaw became Heronreed, and Speckledpaw became Speckledcreek. The two had finally become warriors together, but it wasn't how they'd expected it to be, considering Newtpaw wasn't there to sit in silence with them for their vigil. It was a melancholic moment for the both of them, but the stillness served them a good purpose by the following day.

Warriorhood:

The two warriors' first challenge squandered no time emerging as Heronreed was on a stroll with his family and mentor, Breezeflight. It was a walk with companions and family. The air was light around them as they joked and laughed—all but Breezeflight. The group split slightly, heading off to hunt. Heronreed had dropped low to pursue a nearby mouse when a shriek caught his attention. It was a familiar voice. He took off as fast as he could in the direction of the cry, in time to see a fox grab his mentor and shake her mercilessly. Heronreed through himself at the creature, even though he knew it was too late to save Breezeflight. The fox turned its attention on him now. As it charged toward him, Heronreed did his best to avoid the invasions, hollering loudly to forewarn his family. He could hear them assessing the fox, calling Heronreed's name. Suddenly, the fox lunged, and Heronreed rose on his hind legs. The moment he did, he knew he had committed a fatal mistake. He tried to stagger back, out of range, but the fox's large claws managed to hit him. Most of the wounds were harmless scratches, but one talon managed to dig deeper than the others, cutting him from the chest to just before his stomach. Just as he collapsed and things began to fade, Heronreed bellowed a screeching sound. He would learn later that it had been his sister as she and his parents charged the fox.

By some miracle, Heronreed survived his injuries. However, he was in the medicine den for many moons. He learned that his family had managed to chase the fox away, and though they had managed to get Heronreed back alive, Breezeflight had not made it. His wounds were recovering slowly, and movement was problematic for him. He risked tearing his wound open once more. During his time in the medicine den, he was powerless regarding his mentor's death and nearly his sister in the same battle. Just as he had expected, Squirrelfoot attacked blindly once the fox killed Heronreed's mentor. His mother, Spottedice, was devastated, understandably, as was he. He felt useless, trapped in the den. Spottedice was great friends with Breezeflight, as Breezeflight would talk to Spottedice during her apprenticeship in her youth.

Gradually, he began to be able to move again. The tom was informed that he was lucky. Though the wound had percolated a lot, it had not been deep enough to cause death. Nevertheless, he was warned it would take moons to heal, and he knew it. By four moons, he could move without pain. He began to practice, but it was uneventful and painstaking. He wouldn't go back to his entire force until ten moons later. It was all out of caution. His wound turned into a scar at twenty-three moons old; Heronreed began to retrain himself. After two moons, he was back and ready to continue. His mother had since retired to the elder's den, partially due to her rising age and a freak accident that blinded her. No one knows what happened, as she cannot remember. She wasn't entirely old either. She was found unconscious and bleeding from her face and paws. She had minor injuries on her foot, but her eyes were now completely useless. Heronreed visited his now blind mother daily, helping her readjust to her new life without sight.

Heronreed was given his first apprentice at the age of twenty-six moons. Ospreycry was a rather excitable tom assigned to Heronreed in hopes that the more experienced tom would be able to calm him down a little bit. Heronreed discovered just how much he enjoyed being able to teach and tell of his ventures. Ospreypaw always seemed excited to hear about what he had to say. They were good for each other, Heronreed passing on his calmer ways and Ospreypaw keeping Heronreed's mind occupied from the stress he had endured since becoming a warrior. The training sessions; he never made simple. Despite his unpolished ability in climbing, he'd conceal and ascend trees and have Ospreypaw track Heronreed down. The apprenticeship of fighting was probably the hardest, as Heronreed would go hard on the younger feline, confirming that Ospreypaw would be as skilled as Heronreed was in combat. Hunting: Well, that wasn't easy for the both of them, but in the process of working together, both toms learned to hunt. After moons of training, the young apprentice, Ospreypaw, had his warrior ceremony, being renamed Ospreycry for his disposition. Heronreed had somewhat changed Thunderspirit into a more reticent yet enthusiastic cat. It was strange yet unique. Thunderspirit and Heronreed were merely two peas in a pod.

Eventually, leaf-fall turned to leaf-bare, and the days would grow colder and colder by the week. Heronreed had a hard time fighting off the illnesses that started to come. However, during this time, SaberClan was running low on warriors, considering felines were getting sick, even though they were the powerful allegiance. Heronreed remained healthy, so he'd helped train another apprentice of SaberClan. He instructed another feline named Briarpaw. This she-cat was sarcastic and moody, but Heronreed developed some patience this way, and he wouldn't mind that later on, as it would come in handy. The season was rough, but Heronreed pulled through, ensuring training sessions were challenging but not too difficult to the point where he'd wear out the apprentice or cause her to get sick or fatigued. The sessions made this young apprentice successful, and she was eventually named Briarstrike for her excellent battle skill and hard strikes. Apprenticing two apprentices in a sheer periodic moon may have been admirable and honorable. Still, Heronreed showed little care for his accomplishments, just stepping through life as it went on.
